David at the Lloyds Bank Meeting
David at the Lloyds Bank Meeting

Following his letter to Lloyds Bank, David met with their representatives to challenge the decision to close the Tunstall branch.

He remains unconvinced by the justifications provided for the closure and raised serious concerns about transport times, the cost of reaching alternative branches, the impact on older and vulnerable residents, and the high number of local people unable to access online banking.

David directly questioned Lloyds’ decision-making process, asking what criteria are actually used to determine a closure and what conditions would allow a branch to remain open. He has now requested a clear, written explanation, as the process has lacked transparency.

It has been confirmed that, following David’s lobbying, a banking hub will be established in Tunstall to ensure continued access to essential banking services. However, many residents and businesses have expressed concerns that banking hubs do not provide the full range of services available at a traditional branch. Lloyds representatives have claimed that document printing is the only missing function—David has asked for written confirmation of this.

Access to cash remains a critical issue across Stoke-on-Trent and Kidsgrove. David will continue advocating for additional banking hubs and challenging the flawed criteria used to determine their locations.
