I have come back from London today to bring the great news that i have secured £9million for our children, young people and families in Stoke-on-Trent.
Earlier this year, I (and Cllr Jane Ashworth) organised a meeting with people from the council to come and meet with ministers in London to identify how we could support our young people.
We have the second-highest number of children in care in the country because before Labour came into power, money was ripped out of our support services for families.
This Labour government is committed to reversing that trend. That is why under Andy Burnham and the new leadership, i’ve been successful in making sure we get the £9 million to really transform the services for our families in the city.
