Stoke-on-Trent will shortly receive grant-funding to start the process of co-creating Young Futures Hubs with local partners and young people to develop a network of up to 5- hubs across the country by March 2029.
The Young Futures Hubs are part of the Youth Matters national strategy, which is a 10-year plan to ensure that every young person has:
- Somewhere to go
- Someone who cares for them
- A community they feel part of
It is backed by funding of over £500 million over the next few years from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.
The Young Futures Hubs and Transformation programme will help to deliver the promises set out by the Youth Matters strategy. It will also provide preventive services to:
- Improve mental health/well-being
- Provide opportunities
- Reduce the vulnerability to be drawn into crime
This will enable local authorities to create out-of-school provisions to cultivate leadership and provide for the unique needs of their young people.
The areas selected have until March 2027 to submit implementation plans for approval and complete a review of existing youth provisions and services.
